Chris's Olympic Diary

Day Nineteen-26th February"Home James and don’t spare the horses! (Not sure who said this but I like it)."

Day Eighteen-25th February "My last day in Turin and its still raining! I awoke early again today which is probably a good job because I have a lot to do. My first challenge of the day is to find a cheap bag to enable me to take the bits a bobs I have been given home."

Day Seventeen-23rd February "I woke up early this morning, I must be getting ready for those early mornings at the Glacier! Only a couple of days to go now and I will be hot footing my way back across the pond! It has been great here but I have definitely had enough now! Anyway enough of my moaning, what have we in store today? Its Speed Skating and the Gala."

Day Sixteen-23rd February "Well this is the day we have all been waiting for, who will win the ladies event? Will it be Cohen? Can she hold it together or will the experience of Slutskya be too much for her? What about Arakawa, could she possibly win? Too many questions with no real answers. ."

Day Fourteen-Tuesday 21st February "We have a packed day today, the plan is to go and watch some ice hockey before going to the IBC for the speed and then on to the Palavela for the start of the ladies."

Day Thirteen-Monday 20th February "An easier day today, no speed skating and just the Free Dance later this evening, so before I talk about the day how about some pictures as promised......"

Day Twelve-Sunday 19th February "It was another late breakfast for me, I am going to find it hard to get back to those early mornings when I get back home! Yes more scrambled egg, yogurt and coffee, it’s a bit like groundhog day every morning! Today it’s the ladies 1,000 meters and the original Dance for me, we are showing all 18 pairs in the speed skating so I need to do a lot of preparation."

Day Eleven-Saturday 17th February "Have I really been gone this long? The Glacier seems a distant memory on the other side of the planet! Only joking, just another week to go and I will back to a different grind stone! No figure skating today, it’s the Men’s one thousand meters and short track so lunch in the Eurosport Sponsors village sounds like a good idea."

Day Ten-Friday 16th February "No speed skating today so had a long lie in! Feel a bit lazy but hey ho I think I need the rest, I am starting to feel like I have been dragged through a hedge backwards and probably don’t look much better!"

Day Nine-Thursday 16th February "What a day in store today, it’s the Team Pursuit in the speed skating and the Men’s free (my favorite) (sorry about the spelling its an American Computer! This is Bush’s English!)"

Day Eight-Wednesday 15th February "Today is an easy day for me, just the short track in the evening so Simon and are going to take in the sites of Turin which we can share with you. "

Day Seven-Tuesday 14th February "Well it’s the Ladies 500 meters and the start of the Mens today, I cant wait!"

Day Six-Monday 13th February "Don’t forget its Valentines day tomorrow (I only remembered when I wrote the date! Typical Man!!!!!!) Today the forat figure skating medals will be awarded, it the pairs Free, I am pretty confident that Totmianina and Marinin will win but anything can happen for the silver and bronze."

Day Five-Sunday 12th February "Oh I forgot to mention my suitcase arrived yesterday, it’s a bit beaten and battered but I was glad to see it! So this morning I can put on some fresh clothes! No figure skating today, it’s the Ladies 3,000m Speed Skating and the short track. "

Day Four-Saturday 11th February "Well Saturday was my first broadcast, no sign of the jetlag yet but I suppose there is still time! Today I have the men’s 5,000m speed skating and the Pairs short program, its going to be a long day! "

Day Three-10th February "I awoke this morning at around 9:00am and could hardly move. The regimental style bed looked very welcoming after all the traveling of the previous days however one nights sleep was enough to tell me that this bed would provide some sleepless nights and create pains in places I didn’t think was possible."

Day One & Two-8th / 9th February "Yes day one very quickly became day two! I left Chicago’s O’Hare airport at around 5:00pm on Wednesday 8 th and 8 hours later I was in Madrid airport drinking a café con leche (white coffee) at 8:00am in the morning contemplating the two weeks ahead......"
