Chris's Olympic Diary
Day Eighteen
25th February

My last day in Turin and its still raining! I awoke early again today which is probably a good job because I have a lot to do. My first challenge of the day is to find a cheap bag to enable me to take the bits a bobs I have been given home. After a long walk and visits to several shops I found a suitcase in a super market for 5 euros, as long as it stays together for this trip it will be fine! Oh just a thought I am going back through Madrid so my luggage may not make it anyway.

Well when I came back from the shops I packed and sat down and wrote the last few days of my diary. Its now off to the IBC for the Ladies 5,000 meters and my last program the short track finals…..

Well we did the entire speed skating live and then I made my way to the rink for the short track. What an event, the arena was packed and the skating was top notch! The mens 500 meters was probably the most exciting event with Apollo Anton Ohno winning the gold in a nail biting final.

Its always a bit sad on the last day, everyone saying their goodbyes until next season. Most of the commentary teams wont be going to Worlds as it is usually a bit of an anti climax after Olympics.

Simon and I made it back to the village where we met up with Patrick Winterton, he commentates on the Biathlon amongst other things. He is a great bloke and I haven’t seen him for a couple of years so we had a lot of catching up to do over a glass or two of Borolo (the local vino).
